➢ Items of Interest
New or Revised Items:
■ Quarterly Giving Statements: The 2nd Quarter (April-June) Giving Statements will be available for pick-up in the church narthex (entry) for the next two Sundays. Any statements not picked up will be mailed. Please help us save on postage and pick yours up!
■ Peachtree Gospel Sing: This Friday we will once again join our friends at Peachtree Village, Holiday Island, for singing and laughter at 10:30 am. Please come share this wonderful and always uplifting time together!
■ Fourth of July Parking Lot Success: Thanks to everyone who came out to work at and support our Cornerstone Parking Lot even on July 4th! We netted $465, earning $232.50 each for ECW and Vestry outreach.
■ Library Follow-up: THANK YOU EVERYONE! The attendance at the St. James library party/EfM presentation was awesome! Snacks, drinks, and enlightened conversation were enjoyed by all! If you were unable to come last Sunday, feel free to come in and browse around, then take a look at the new Library Guide on the table directly in front upon entering the St. James house.
Beginning next week, the newsletter will have a review of an author or a book that is available in the library. The St. James library is such a treasure for a small congregation like our own! Please utilize it frequently!
■ EFM Follow-Up: It appears quite likely that St. James’ may have its own Education for Ministry (EfM) program forming in the Fall. Darlene Simmons and Tracey MacGowan will be co-facilitating the group, which will be held on Sunday afternoons after Coffee Hour. The start date is tentatively Sep. 16, with meetings weekly. Anyone interested in participating in the group, or anyone who wants more information about the EfM program in general, please call Tracey MacGowan at (940)-395-4806 or Darlene Simmons at (479) 981-4444.
■ Building Restoration: Steve Holifield reports that although we did not receive any state funds during this grant cycle, we will continue collecting restoration pledge money and will reapply during the next cycle. The State is encouraging us to reapply.
■ Ice-Cream Social: Due to a number of unanticipated scheduling conflicts, the Ice Cream Social has been postponed until later this summer. Stay tuned!
■ Bags of Blessings: We are once more collecting for Bags of Blessings. We are looking for small “sundry” items such as shampoo soap, toothbrushes/toothpaste, combs, etc. Items collected will go to Flint Street and Cup of Love. Please contact Kathy McCoy, (316) 258-1038, if you have any questions.
